The inZOI team has fixed a troubling bug that allowed players to harm children with vehicles in the latest update. Discover more about this unexpected issue and the game director’s perspective on its realistic design.

During inZOI’s Early Access phase, players uncovered a disturbing feature enabling vehicles to harm children. A March 28 post on the inZOI subreddit, titled "Krafton may not realize you can harm kids in inZOI," included footage of a player striking a child with a car, causing a dramatic and fatal impact.
While the inZOI Online Showcase noted that Zois could die in various ways, including vehicle accidents, the developers never intended this to include children. In a March 28 statement to Eurogamer, a Krafton representative clarified that this was an unintended glitch, now corrected in the latest patch.
The statement emphasized, "Such content is entirely inappropriate and does not align with inZOI’s values. We take age-appropriate content seriously and are enhancing our internal review processes to avoid similar issues moving forward." Removing this bug aligns with inZOI’s ESRB Teen rating, preventing a potential shift to a stricter classification.

inZOI boasts a "Very Positive" Steam rating, celebrated for its stunning detail and quality. However, Game Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim, in a March 31 interview with PCGamesN, acknowledged the limitations of the game’s hyper-realistic style.
Kim shared, "We debated extensively about balancing realism. While we aimed to include playful, lighthearted elements, they often clashed with the game’s lifelike visuals, which was challenging."

Kim cited The Sims 4’s whimsical charm as a benchmark, noting that inZOI’s realistic approach made similar playfulness hard to integrate. Still, he remains optimistic, stating, "Our immersive visuals will captivate players, and we’re thrilled to bring this world to life."
While inZOI surpasses The Sims 4 in visual fidelity, the team is still defining its unique identity to compete in the life-sim genre. For more on inZOI’s Early Access, explore our detailed article below!
