Capcom is enhancing Monster Hunter Wilds' performance before its release, focusing on reducing PC GPU requirements. This follows feedback from the initial beta test.
Lowering the GPU Barrier
A January 19, 2025, announcement on Monster Hunter Germany's Twitter (X) account highlighted performance improvements. A video showcased smoother gameplay on PS5 using an updated Prioritize Framerate mode. Similar optimizations are underway for the PC version, aiming to lower the recommended GPU specifications. Currently, the minimum requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Success in this endeavor would broaden the game's accessibility to players with less powerful hardware.
A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players assess system compatibility.
Addressing Beta Concerns
The initial open beta (October-November 2024) revealed performance issues, including low-poly models and frame rate drops. These problems, reported on Steam, prompted Capcom to address concerns on November 1, 2024, promising fixes for issues like afterimage noise.
An improved game state is expected, and a second open beta (February 7-10 & 14-17, 2025) for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam will feature new monsters (Gypceros and one unannounced). The inclusion of the performance updates in this beta remains unconfirmed.
