The eagerly awaited third installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has reached a significant milestone: its main scenario is now complete. In a recent interview with Famitsu, director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase shared exciting updates about the development progress of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. This news comes just before the PC port launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second title in the series.
Development On Schedule, No Delays For Its Upcoming Release

Hamaguchi confirmed that the development of the third game is proceeding smoothly without any delays. "We began working on it right after concluding FF7 Rebirth’s development, and we are progressing without any delay from our planned schedule," he stated. This assurance means fans can look forward to the next chapter in the trilogy with confidence.
Kitase added that the main scenario for Part 3 was completed by the end of 2023, expressing satisfaction with the outcome. "I tasked Tetsuya Nomura with concluding the remake project while respecting the original story and providing a satisfying ending. That was completed at the end of the year, and I'm confident it will be a conclusion that fans will appreciate," he remarked.
Team Admits That They Were Worried About Rebirth’s Release At First
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, released in early 2024, has been a resounding success, receiving widespread acclaim. However, Kitase and Hamaguchi admitted to initial concerns about its reception. "We were worried about how it would resonate with players, especially as it's the second part of a trilogy," Kitase said. The overwhelmingly positive feedback has since alleviated these concerns and boosted the team's confidence for the final installment.
Hamaguchi credits the game's success to a "logic-based approach" to development, where they consider feedback from beta testers but prioritize suggestions that align with the game's core objectives. "If our goal is A, and someone suggests B instead, we can't accommodate it. But if they suggest adding B could enhance A, we consider it," he explained.
PC Gaming Is Now The Norm
The rise of PC gaming was another topic discussed by Kitase and Hamaguchi. They noted the trend towards PC gaming, driven by increasing development costs and the need to reach a broader audience. "PCs have no borders, so it's inevitable that we release PC versions to allow more people to play," Kitase explained.
The team prioritized the PC port of FF7 Rebirth to meet this demand. "We focused on making the PC version of FFVII Rebirth available sooner than the PC version of FFVII Remake," Hamaguchi noted, acknowledging the shift in gaming preferences.
With the main scenario for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 now complete and development on track, fans can anticipate an exciting conclusion to the trilogy. The success of FF7 Rebirth on PC and the trend towards PC gaming suggest that the final installment might also be available on PC sooner than expected.
