"Mastering Tarot Cards in Phasmophobia: A Guide"

Cursed Possessions in *Phasmophobia* are a double-edged sword, offering significant rewards but also posing substantial risks. Among these, Tarot Cards stand out for their potential to drastically alter your investigation, for better or worse. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to navigate these mystical cards effectively.

How to Use Tarot Cards in Phasmophobia

Tarot Cards rank among the riskiest Cursed Possessions in *Phasmophobia*, yet they can also offer some of the most potent benefits if fortune smiles upon you. If you encounter Tarot Cards during your contract, it's wise to use them in a safe area, such as near a hiding spot or the entrance. This precaution allows you a chance to escape should you draw a dangerous card like Death.

Each Tarot Card comes with its own unique ability that activates instantly upon use. However, you might also draw The Fool, akin to a Joker, which results in no effect. You can draw up to 10 cards from the deck without any sanity drain, and you may encounter duplicates, each triggering the same effect.

There are 10 distinct cards you might pull from the deck, each with specific effects and draw chances:

Tarot CardEffectDraw Chance
The TowerDoubles ghost activity for 20 seconds20%
The Wheel of FortuneThe user gains 25% sanity if the card burns green; loses 25% sanity if the card burns red20%
The HermitForces the ghost back into its favorite room and traps it inside for 1 minute (cannot override hunts or events)10%
The SunFully restores the user’s sanity to 100%5%
The MoonCompletely drains the user’s sanity to 0%5%
The FoolMimics another card before turning into The Fool; burns away and no effects happen17%
The DevilTriggers a ghost event by the player nearest to the ghost, not necessarily the user10%
DeathTriggers a Cursed Hunt (20 seconds longer than normal hunt); drawing any more cards during10%
The High PriestessImmediately revives a dead party member2%
The Hanged ManImmediately kills the user1%

What are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions, also referred to as "Cursed Objects," are unique items in *Phasmophobia* that appear randomly across contract maps, influenced by difficulty settings or specific modes like Challenge Mode. While standard equipment helps you find the ghost and gather evidence safely, Cursed Objects provide shortcuts or cheats to manipulate the ghost at a higher risk to your character.

Some Cursed Objects are less dangerous than others, and it's your choice whether to use them. There's no penalty for avoiding them, nor a bonus for engaging with them. Typically, only one Cursed Possession appears per contract, each type spawning in a fixed location. For instance, the Voodoo Doll always appears in the Garage at 6 Tanglewood Drive.

The game features seven different Cursed Objects:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle

This guide wraps up how to use Tarot Cards in *Phasmophobia*. For the latest updates, guides, and information on achievements and trophies, be sure to check out The Escapist's coverage of the game.
