Path of Exile 2 developer Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has introduced further emergency changes to the action role-playing game in response to the community's strong negative reaction to the Dawn of the Hunt update. This update, released earlier this month, added significant new content including the Huntress class, five new ascension classes, over one hundred unique items, and expanded crafting options. However, it also included nerfs that drastically slowed down the game's pace, leading to a drop in Steam user reviews to 'mostly negative.'
The Dawn of the Hunt update introduced the Huntress class, adept at hybrid melee and ranged combat with Spear and Buckler, and new ascension classes such as the Ritualist, Amazon, Smith of Kitava, Tactician, and Lich. Despite these additions, the community felt that the game had become a "total slog" due to the nerfs, with players reporting longer boss fights, reduced skill damage, and a general feeling of the game being punishing with little reward.
GGG has acknowledged these issues and responded with a series of updates, the latest being patch 0.2.0e, set to release on April 11. This patch focuses on monster speed and behavior adjustments, boss fight modifications, player minion changes, crafting enhancements, and performance improvements. Key changes include:
Despite these efforts, the community's response remains crucial. The question now is whether these changes will be substantial enough to address the ongoing concerns and restore a positive sentiment among players. Path of Exile 2 has seen significant success at launch, yet this has also brought challenges affecting both the game's development and its predecessor, Path of Exile 1.
The detailed patch notes for update 0.2.0e, along with planned future changes such as enhancements to the Charm system, Stash Tab Affinities, and Atlas Bookmarks, indicate GGG's commitment to improving the player experience. However, only time will tell if these updates will satisfy the community and turn the tide of negative feedback into a more positive outlook for Path of Exile 2.
