MercurySteam, the studio behind Blades of Fire, boasts a lineage deeply rooted in gaming history. Many of its developers hail from Rebel Act Studios, creators of the legendary 2001 title, Severance: Blade of Darkness. This cult classic, renowned for its groundbreaking limb-severing combat system, served as a major inspiration for Blades of Fire's development.

However, Blades of Fire isn't just a nostalgic throwback. The game also draws heavily from modern action-adventure giants, particularly the cinematic combat and richly detailed world of Santa Monica Studio's God of War reboot. This blend of influences results in a fast-paced action-RPG experience, seamlessly merging visceral combat with immersive RPG elements.

A key feature of Blades of Fire is its innovative weapon crafting system. Players can forge their own unique blades, meticulously customizing aspects like length, weight, durability, and balance.
