Starved for official updates like GTA 6 enthusiasts, The Elder Scrolls community has resorted to dissecting every breadcrumb from Bethesda. The latest catalyst? A character creation contest that's sparked wild release date theories among devoted fans.
Bethesda recently unveiled its newest Make-A-Wish collaboration, offering one lucky bidder the chance to craft an NPC for TES6. "For years we've partnered with Make-A-Wish to support children battling critical illnesses," the studio explained. "This year's silent auction winner gets to design a character for TES6, with all proceeds benefiting this incredible cause."
While undeniably heartwarming, this initiative sent the TES6 fanbase into analytical overdrive. Observant fans noted similar character contests preceded Starfield by about 2.5 years. Enter Reddit user FartingSlowly's hot take: Could this hint at a September 2027 release date?
"Let's be real - this isn't exactly hard evidence," FartingSlowly admitted, adding "But after years of radio silence, grasping at actual Bethesda activities feels almost refreshing." Community reactions vary wildly, with some countering that if following Starfield's original November 2022 timeline, TES6 might arrive in November 2026 instead.
With release projections stretching into 2027, will Microsoft debut new Xbox hardware before we see TES6?
It's been a staggering journey since TES6's initial teaser in 2018. The studio officially entered "early development" in August 2023, with "early builds" surfacing in March 2024. Even Bethesda's Todd Howard recently paused to reflect: "Wow... that's been a while."
Current projections place TES6 no earlier than 2028, potentially making its debut alongside next-gen consoles. The potential 17-year gap since Skyrim would set a new record for franchise gaps. While waiting for concrete news, fans continue parsing every possible clue.
