Calling all Peaky Blinders enthusiasts — we are returning to the Shelby universe. Netflix and the BBC have officially greenlit a two-season order for a sequel series.
Set in Britain during 1953, the upcoming show has not yet revealed its casting choices. Each season will consist of six hour-long episodes. However, one key detail is confirmed: original star Cillian Murphy has joined as an executive producer.
The BBC provided this official synopsis: "Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart."
Creator Steven Knight shared his excitement in a statement: “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”
Peaky Blinders fans have much to anticipate, especially with a film sequel scheduled for release next year. Titled The Immortal Man, the movie continues directly after the final season of the series. Cillian Murphy returns as the lead, joined by Stephen Graham, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, and Rebecca Ferguson in supporting roles.
While official launch dates for both the new series and the film remain unannounced, we expect updates soon given that the year is drawing to a close.
