Remedy Entertainment's ambition: To become Europe's answer to Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic masterpieces, particularly the Uncharted series, Remedy aims for similar heights, according to Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley, speaking on the Behind The Voice podcast. This influence is clearly seen in the development of both Quantum Break and, more recently, Alan Wake 2.
Rowley stated their aspiration to be "the European version of Naughty Dog." This ambition is reflected in Alan Wake 2's stunning visuals and gripping narrative, a cinematic experience that has cemented Remedy's place as a leading European game studio.
Remedy's aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's dominance in cinematic single-player games, exemplified by the Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises (the latter being one of the most decorated in gaming history), serves as a clear benchmark.
Alan Wake 2, even over a year post-release, continues to receive updates. Recent enhancements include a new "Balanced" graphics option specifically for the PS5 Pro, cleverly combining aspects of the Performance and Quality modes. These updates also address minor graphical tweaks for smoother framerates and improved image clarity, alongside bug fixes impacting gameplay, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
