Boosting the Game Industry's Future

Capcom Games Competition: RE ENGINE Student Challenge

This groundbreaking competition, open to Japanese students, leverages Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE. The goal is to enhance research within educational institutions and nurture exceptional talent. Through this collaboration, Capcom hopes to significantly strengthen the overall industry.

Student teams (up to 20 members) will be formed, with individual roles mirroring those in professional game development. Guided by experienced Capcom developers, teams will have six months to create a game, learning cutting-edge development techniques. Winning teams will receive game production support, potentially leading to commercialization.

Competition Details

The application window opens December 9, 2024, and closes January 17, 2025 (unless otherwise stated). Eligible participants must be at least 18 years old and enrolled in a Japanese university, graduate school, or vocational school.

RE ENGINE: Powering Innovation

RE ENGINE (Reach for the Moon Engine), developed in 2014, initially powered Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017). It has since been used in numerous Capcom titles, including other Resident Evil installments, Dragon's Dogma 2, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. The engine undergoes continuous improvement to facilitate the creation of high-quality games.
