Palworld Switch Port Unlikely, Not Due to Pokemon

Devs Pocketpair Has Nothing Concrete to Announce Yet

In a recent interview with Game File, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe discussed the hurdles of bringing Palworld to the Nintendo Switch and teased future developments. Although not ruling out a Switch version completely, Mizobe highlighted technical challenges. He noted that discussions are ongoing about potential new platforms for Palworld, but Pocketpair has no official announcements at this time.

Mizobe remains hopeful about expanding the game's availability, despite Palworld's high PC specifications posing difficulties for a Switch port. Earlier this month, he mentioned, "Palworld’s specs on PC are higher than the Switch’s specs. So maybe it’s hard to port to Switch just for technical reasons."

When it comes to future platform possibilities, Mizobe did not specify if Palworld could come to PlayStation, Nintendo, or mobile devices. In an earlier interview with Bloomberg this year, he confirmed that Pocketpair is exploring opportunities to bring the game to more platforms. He also expressed openness to partnership or acquisition offers, though no buyout discussions have been initiated with Microsoft.

Wants Palworld to Have More 'Ark' or 'Rust' Elements

Beyond platform considerations, Mizobe shared his vision for enhancing Palworld's multiplayer features. The upcoming arena mode, described as "kind of an experiment," sets the stage for further multiplayer experiences. "My dream is to achieve a true PvP mode in Palworld," Mizobe stated. "I want more of the Ark or Rust style."

Ark and Rust are renowned for their survival gameplay, featuring rich environments, complex resource management, and extensive player interactions, including alliances and tribes. Both games blend PvE and PvP elements, with Ark challenging players with prehistoric creatures and environmental hazards, and Rust presenting similar challenges including wildlife and radiation zones.

Palworld, developed by Pocketpair, is a captivating creature collection and survival shooter game that has garnered significant attention since its launch. Players engage with creatures called Pals, utilizing them for various tasks, including building bases and combat.

The game achieved remarkable success, selling 15 million copies on PC within its first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox through the Game Pass subscription service. Palworld is poised for further growth with the upcoming free Sakurajima update, set to launch on Thursday. This update will introduce a new island, the long-awaited PvP arena, and more features to enrich the gaming experience.
