LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has announced ambitious plans to significantly expand the company's digital footprint, venturing into the world of video game development. This expansion will involve both independently created titles and collaborations with other developers. Christiansen stated, “We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.”
This strategic move doesn't signal an end to LEGO's established practice of licensing its brand to third-party developers. Recent reports, such as Jason Schreier's announcement of a new LEGO game in development at TT Games (likely based on a Warner Bros. franchise), support this continued approach.

LEGO's current gaming landscape is already substantial, highlighted by its successful partnership with Epic Games. Last year's Fortnite LEGO-themed mode became an instant fan favorite, demonstrating the brand's appeal in the digital realm. The company also boasts a long-standing relationship with TT Games, creators of the popular LEGO adventure game series. While new projects from TT Games have been relatively quiet recently, speculation points towards a new LEGO Harry Potter game, potentially inspired by the phenomenal success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Further illustrating LEGO's commitment to gaming, the company collaborated with 2K Games on LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game released last year, showcasing the brand's adaptability and reach within the gaming industry.
