12月6日，PC Gamer举办的“PC游戏展：最受期待”活动揭晓，《文明7》力压群雄，夺得榜首。该活动展示了明年最受期待的25个游戏项目。
在近三个小时的直播中，PC Gamer展示了2025年最受期待的游戏。游戏排名基于“议会”的投票结果，该议会由70多名成员组成，包括“知名开发者、内容创作者和我们自己的编辑”。除了游戏排名，活动还为《让我们建造一个地牢》和《末日车手》等其他游戏带来了新的预告片和内容。
《毁灭战士：黑暗时代》位居第二，《怪物猎人：荒野》位居第三。即将推出的独立游戏《杀戮尖塔2》位列第四。榜单上还包括《合金装备：代号：潜龙谍影》、《怪形：重制版》和《王国之泪2》等游戏。令人意外的是，《空洞骑士：丝绸颂歌》并未出现在榜单上，其预告片也没有在活动中出现。
《文明VII》将于2025年2月11日同步登陆PC、Xbox、PlayStation和Nintendo Switch平台。
Beach解释说：“我们掌握大量数据表明，玩家玩《文明》游戏时，往往无法通关。他们根本无法完成游戏。因此，我们希望尽一切努力——无论是减少微观管理，还是重构游戏——来直接解决这个问题。”
《文明7》引入了一个名为“时代”的新功能。一个游戏流程或战役分为三个篇章：古代时代、探索时代和现代时代。在一个时代结束后，玩家可以切换到另一个文明，这反映了现实世界中帝国兴衰的历史。
然而，下一个文明不能随机选择。它必须与你之前的文明在历史上或地理上有所关联。例如，罗马帝国过渡到其现代时代的对应物——法兰西帝国，诺曼帝国则充当两者之间的桥梁。
即使你切换到另一个文明，你的领导者也会保持不变。《文明7》的网站上写道：“领导者在所有时代都持续存在，确保你始终知道谁是帝国的一部分，谁是你的对手。”
关于前一个文明留下的建筑，有一个“叠加”功能，在过渡到一个时代后，你可以在现有建筑上建造新的建筑。然而，奇迹和一些建筑将在整个游戏过程中保持不变。
凭借这些新功能，玩家可以在一个游戏流程中体验不同的文明，提供处理文化、军事、外交和经济事务的新方法，同时保留对特定领导者的依恋。
