According to Remedy's annual report, the highly anticipated Control 2 has successfully passed the concept validation stage and is now in full production. This marks a significant milestone, confirming that the project is moving forward with momentum. In addition to Control 2, two other exciting projects are in active development: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. A year ago, these titles were merely in the preparation phase for production, but they have since advanced to the next stage, showcasing Remedy's commitment to bringing new experiences to gamers. However, it's worth noting that the project Kestrel, which was being developed in collaboration with Tencent, has been removed from the studio's plans. It was canceled back in May of last year.
All these projects are being developed using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness in games like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy projects. This engine continues to be a cornerstone of Remedy's development strategy, ensuring high-quality gaming experiences.
In terms of budget, Control 2 is estimated at 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by the studio and will be released on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC, promising a broad reach to gamers across multiple platforms. The budget for FBC: Firebreak is slightly more modest at 30 million euros. This project will be available on PlayStation and Xbox subscription services upon release, as well as on Steam and the Epic Games Store, offering players various avenues to access the game.
The remakes of Max Payne 1+2 remain shrouded in mystery regarding their budget, but it is known that they will be AAA-level games. Development and marketing are fully funded by Rockstar Games, which underscores the high expectations and substantial resources being allocated to these iconic titles.
