A recent report by MP1st reveals details about an unannounced remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, sourced from the portfolio of an anonymous former Virtuos Studios developer. This remake, built using Unreal Engine 5, promises significant gameplay overhauls.
The portfolio showcases a complete reimagining of Oblivion, featuring revamped mechanics. These include substantial changes to stamina management, stealth, attack blocking (inspired by Soulslike games to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage feedback, and the user interface. The damage calculation system has undergone a complete rework, resulting in more visually impactful hit reactions. The UI and archery systems will also see modernizations. MP1st suggests that while initial plans may have involved a simple remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents), the project has evolved into a full-scale remake.
MP1st's sources confirm the Oblivion remake won't appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct. However, speculation suggests a potential release within the current year.
