"Captured Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds Vanish Mysteriously"

Mar 28,2025 Author: Aaron

Most people associate Monster Hunter with the thrill of hunting monsters, but capturing them is also a crucial aspect of the game. In Monster Hunter Wilds, players have stumbled upon a delightful interaction that occurs when they capture a monster and stick around long enough to witness it.

As shared by Reddit user RDGtheGreat on the r/MonsterHunter subreddit, lingering after a capture allows players to see a bit of behind-the-scenes magic. Specifically, the captured monster eventually gets up and leaves the area.

Fun fact: captured monsters just get up and leave within a minute of napping

After capturing a Nu Udra and patiently waiting, players can watch as the giant cephalopod simply gets up and wanders off. This has led to humorous comparisons to a film set wrapping up, adding a light-hearted touch to the game.

In terms of in-universe explanations, it's clear that the research team in Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't use giant cages. Instead, the game adopts a catch-and-release method, which aligns well with the ethos of Alma and the rest of the crew throughout the storyline.

Regardless of the lore behind it, this little interaction is a fun addition to the game. It's impressive that Capcom's developers thought to include this scenario with a special animation, rather than just a simple fade out. Seeing a monster, now missing several limbs and appendages, scurrying off into the distance is quite amusing, yet it adds a meaningful layer to the research approach of Alma and her team.

Patch 1.000.05.00 has recently been released for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing issues with quest progression and fixing bugs. While performance improvements are still in the works, the game currently holds a 'mixed' rating on Steam.

IGN's review of Monster Hunter Wilds awarded it an 8/10, stating, "Monster Hunter Wilds continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."
