In the dynamic world of Zenless Zone Zero, HoYoverse has crafted a diverse array of characters, each with unique personalities and mechanics that can synergize to form powerful teams. Given the game's heavy focus on combat, players often seek to understand which characters stand out as the best. This ZZZ tier list ranks all the Zenless Zone Zero 1.0 characters, providing insights into their current standing in the meta.
Updated on December 24, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: Tier lists in games with regularly introduced new characters are subject to change with the evolving meta. For example, Grace was a top-tier Agent at the launch of ZZZ due to her effective Anomaly building capabilities. However, with the introduction of numerous Anomaly units, her relevance has diminished, especially with the emergence of Miyabi, an exceptionally powerful Anomaly character. This updated Zenless Zone Zero tier list reflects the current character lineup and their rankings.
S-Tier
S-Tier characters in Zenless Zone Zero are exceptional units that excel in their roles and synergize well with others, making them top choices for any team.
Miyabi
Miyabi stands out as one of the premier characters in ZZZ due to her rapid Frost attacks and immense damage potential. While she requires some setup, mastering her pattern and unleashing her ultimate moves can devastate opponents on the battlefield.
Jane Doe
Jane Doe surpasses Piper in ZZZ with her exceptional ability to Crit her Assault Anomaly, significantly boosting her damage output. Although Anomaly characters tend to be slower than pure DPS, Jane Doe's powerful Assault capabilities place her firmly in the S-Rank alongside Zhu Yuan and Ellen.
Yanagi
Yanagi excels at triggering Disorder without needing to apply Shock on top of another Anomaly. As long as an enemy is affected by any Anomaly, Yanagi can trigger Disorder, making her an ideal partner for Miyabi in ZZZ.
Zhu Yuan
Zhu Yuan is a top-tier DPS in ZZZ, swiftly dealing damage with her Shotshells. She pairs well with Stun and Support characters, particularly excelling with Qingyi and Nicole in version 1.1, where Qingyi's quick stuns and Nicole's Ether damage boosts and DEF reductions enhance Zhu Yuan's performance.
Caesar
Caesar redefines the role of a Defense Agent with exceptional protection, buffs, and debuffs. Her Impact scaling allows her to easily stun enemies, and her crowd control abilities gather foes in one spot, making her the leading Support in ZZZ.
Qingyi
Qingyi is a versatile Stunner effective in any squad with an Attack Agent. Her fluid movements and rapid Daze build-up through Basic Attack spam are complemented by a significant DMG multiplier when enemies are stunned, outshining Lycaon and Koleda in most scenarios.
Lighter
Lighter, a Stun Agent, offers notable buffs, particularly enhancing Fire and Ice characters. Given the prevalence of powerful units with these attributes, Lighter secures a high spot on the ZZZ tier list.
Lycaon
Lycaon, an Ice-based Stun unit, leverages his charged Basic and EX Special Attacks to apply Ice and Daze, aiding Anomaly reactions. His ability to reduce enemies' Ice resistance and boost allies' Daze DMG makes him indispensable in Ice teams within Zenless Zone Zero.
Ellen
Ellen, an Attack Agent who excels with Ice damage, synergizes exceptionally well with Lycaon and Soukaku. When paired with these characters, Ellen delivers devastating hits, especially with her EX Special Attacks and Ultimates, cementing her place at the top of the ZZZ tier list.
Harumasa
Harumasa, an S-Rank Electric-Attack character, was once given for free in Zenless Zone Zero. He requires specific setup to unleash his potent attacks, making him a valuable asset when properly conditioned.
Soukaku
Soukaku serves as an effective Support in Zenless Zone Zero, enhancing Ice Anomaly on enemies with her Icy hits. When paired with other Ice units like Ellen or Lycaon, Soukaku's buffs make her one of the best Support characters in the game.
Rina
As a Support, Rina not only deals significant damage but also provides PEN, allowing allies to bypass enemy defenses. Her ability to build Shock Anomaly and enhance Shock reactions makes her an essential ally for Electric characters in Zenless Zone Zero.
A-Tier
A-Tier characters in Zenless Zone Zero excel in specific combos and are generally strong in their roles.
Nicole
Nicole, an Ether Support in Zenless Zone Zero, enhances team performance by pulling enemies into energy fields and shredding their DEF, boosting Ether DMG. While highly effective for Ether DPS, her benefits are less pronounced for other DPS types.
Seth
Seth excels as a shielder and support, though he doesn't match the top-tier buffers like Soukaku and Caesar. His niche as an Anomaly DPS support is valuable, but ATK buffers remain beneficial for Anomaly teams.
Lucy
Lucy, a Support unit, offers off-field damage and a substantial ATK% buff to the team, lasting up to 15 seconds. Her DPS potential increases when synergizing with other characters to activate her Additional Ability.
Piper
Piper's gameplay revolves around her powerful EX Special Attack, which triggers Assault and builds Physical Anomaly, synergizing well with other Anomaly units to create consistent Disorder.
Grace
Grace remains a strong Anomaly character, capable of quickly Shocking enemies and triggering continuous damage. While still relevant, her position on the tier list has shifted due to the introduction of newer, more effective Anomaly Agents.
Koleda
Koleda, a Fire/Stun character, reliably builds Daze on enemies, making her a versatile addition to any team, particularly those with other Fire characters. Her synergy with Ben enhances her combat abilities.
Anby
Anby is valued more for her comedic timing in the story than her combat prowess, though she is a dependable Stun unit. Her quick, effective combos and bullet deflection while running make her a fun and functional character, despite being easily interrupted.
Soldier 11
Soldier 11 is straightforward to play, dealing significant damage with her Fire-infused attacks. Her mechanics are simple, making her a reliable choice, though not as versatile as some other characters.
B-Tier
B-Tier characters in Zenless Zone Zero offer useful abilities, but other characters can perform these roles more effectively.
Ben
Ben, the only defensive character in Zenless Zone Zero 1.0, is enjoyable due to his parry and counter mechanics. However, his slow combat style and limited team benefits outside of his Crit Rate buff and shield make him less desirable, especially when dodging is more effective.
Nekomata
Nekomata, an Attack unit, delivers substantial AoE damage but relies heavily on team synergy. Her effectiveness is limited by the lack of suitable teammates in the current meta, particularly within her Element and Faction. Future updates may enhance her potential with new Supportive Physical characters.
C-Tier
C-Tier characters in Zenless Zone Zero currently offer little to no significant contribution to team performance.
Corin
Corin, an Attack character specializing in Physical damage, excels at dealing continuous damage to Stunned enemies. However, she is overshadowed by Nekomata's AoE capabilities and Piper's superior Physical Anomaly application.
Billy
Billy, known for his loud presence, struggles to deliver significant damage as an Attack character. While effective in quick-swap teams, many other DPS characters outperform him, even within the Physical Attack category.
Anton
Anton's Core Skill allows for continuous Shock damage, but his lack of DPS in his attacks hampers his effectiveness. As a single-target Electric unit, Anton's limited damage output and focus on one enemy at a time diminish his overall impact in combat.
