Bandai Namco Entertainment, the publisher behind Elden Ring, has partnered with Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio founded by former Witcher 3 developers, to publish their debut action RPG, Dawnwalker.
This exciting collaboration, announced earlier this week, designates Bandai Namco as the global publisher for Dawnwalker, a AAA action RPG launching in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox.
Set in a dark fantasy medieval Europe, Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven experience aimed at mature audiences. Rebel Wolves, established in 2022, aims to redefine the RPG genre with its story-focused approach. Further details about Dawnwalker are promised in the coming months.
Tomasz Tinc, Rebel Wolves' chief publishing officer, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: "Rebel Wolves is a studio built on experience and fresh energy. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, renowned for its commitment to RPGs and willingness to embrace new IPs, is the ideal partner. We share common values, and their history of publishing narrative-driven RPGs speaks volumes. We eagerly anticipate collaborating to bring the Dawnwalker saga to players worldwide."
Alberto Gonzalez Lorca, Bandai Namco's VP of business development, echoed this sentiment: "This is a significant step in our Western market content strategy. By combining our strengths, we will deliver this debut title to a global audience."
Leading the creative charge is Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a CD Projekt Red veteran and lead quest designer on The Witcher 3, who joined Rebel Wolves earlier this year as creative director. Jakub Szamalek, Rebel Wolves' co-founder and narrative director (and a 9-year CDPR veteran), confirms Dawnwalker as a new franchise. The game's scope is anticipated to be comparable to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine expansion, offering a non-linear narrative.
Tomaszkiewicz previously highlighted the game's design: "We aim to create an experience that allows for diverse choices and encourages experimentation on replays. Collaborating with such talented individuals to craft this experience is a privilege, and I'm excited for everyone to see the team's work."
