New World of Warcraft Video Explains Feast of Winter Veil Lore

World of Warcraft's Festive Feast of Winter Veil: A Lore-Filled Celebration

World of Warcraft's annual Feast of Winter Veil, a beloved in-game holiday mirroring Christmas, returns with fresh rewards and activities! This year's event is even more special thanks to a collaboration with PlatinumWoW, resulting in a captivating lore video exploring the holiday's rich history.

The video unveils the origins of Winter Veil, delving into Dwarven myths featuring Greatfather Winter, a Titan-forged giant, and the Tauren's traditions of reflection and gratitude towards the Earthmother. It also humorously highlights the commercialization of the holiday by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures, a parallel to real-world Christmas traditions.

Metzen the Reindeer Takes Center Stage

No Winter Veil story is complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after former Warcraft creative director Chris Metzen. This unfortunate reindeer has a history of being kidnapped – by pirates, Dark Iron Dwarves, and even the Grinch! The video's hilarious conclusion features Metzen expressing gratitude in Thrall's voice (fittingly, as Metzen voiced the Orc Shaman).

A Fruitful Collaboration

This isn't PlatinumWoW's first collaboration with Blizzard. Past projects include lore videos on Nerubians, Vrykul, and the Scourge, showcasing Blizzard's commitment to engaging with talented content creators.

Don't Miss Out!

Players have until January 5th, 2024, to participate in the Feast of Winter Veil. This year's highlights include a tamable Dreaming Festive Reindeer for Hunters, new holiday transmogs, and the Grunch pet. Remember to check under the tree in Orgrimmar or Stormwind for a special gift!
