Calling all discard deck enthusiasts in *Marvel Snap*—Khonshu, the God of the Moon, has arrived, and he's bringing a powerful new tool to your arsenal. This card is not only fascinating but also one of the most intricate releases by Second Dinner to date. Let's delve into how Khonshu operates and explore the best ways to leverage his unique abilities.
Khonshu is a 6-cost, 5-power card with an ability that activates when discarded: he returns in his next phase. His initial On Reveal effect allows you to resurrect a card you discarded to another location with its power set to 5. As Khonshu evolves:
Each time Khonshu is discarded, he upgrades, enhancing his On Reveal effect, similar to how Apocalypse functions. The strategy often involves discarding Khonshu one or two times before playing him on the final turn. This allows you to resurrect and significantly power up cards like Iron Man or Gorr the God Butcher. While Khonshu can't revive a specific card, playing his 12-power final phase on turn 6 to revive a 1-cost, 12-power Meek can be a game-changer.
Finding the perfect deck for Khonshu will require some experimentation, as he may not fit seamlessly into traditional discard decks. However, he could work well in a Darkhawk-style Stature list or other alternative discard-type decks. Here's an example of the former:

The only Series 5 card in this list is Fenris Wolf, which is crucial as resurrecting an opponent's discarded card from Moon Knight, Silver Samurai, or Black Bolt can be a win condition. The strategy involves filling your opponent's deck with rocks to boost Darkhawk and discarding Khonshu as much as possible. Moon Knight and Blade are key to hitting Khonshu repeatedly, while timing your discards correctly is essential to avoid hitting less valuable cards like Rock Slide.
Play Stature early, then aim to play Darkhawk on turn 5 and Khonshu on turn 6 to revive a card with 8-12 power. Since all these cards have less than 8 power, Khonshu directly buffs them.
While Khonshu may not fit into traditional discard decks over Apocalypse, there's room for experimentation. Here's a list that includes both Khonshu and Apocalypse, utilizing energy ramp from Corvus Glaive:

The only Series 5 card here is Scorn, which can be replaced with other discard activators like Colleen Wing or X-23 for more energy ramp. This deck relies on playing Corvus Glaive on turn 3 to enable dropping Khonshu alongside other discard activators, boosting Apocalypse and flooding the board. Whether this outperforms traditional discard lists without Khonshu is yet to be seen, but with Moon Knight, Blade, and Lady Sif, you should have no trouble getting Khonshu to his final phase while keeping Apocalypse strong for Dracula to absorb.
Regardless of your preference for discard decks, Khonshu is a card that's both powerful and intriguing. He's likely to become a staple in hybrid discard lists and could very well be meta-relevant. If you have the resources, Khonshu is definitely worth picking up.
