The PC edition of Stellar Blade debuted just yesterday on June 11, yet it has already become Sony's most successful single-player launch on Steam.
Currently, the concurrent player peak stands at nearly 105,000, marking the seventh all-time high the game has reached since this article was first drafted. Expect these figures to keep rising, particularly over the coming weekend.
For context, Ghost of Tsushima reached a maximum of 77,154 players, God of War hit 73,529, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered achieved a peak of 66,436. Actually, the only Sony title with a higher concurrent player record than Stellar Blade is Helldivers 2, which is a multiplayer release.
PC-exclusive enhancements include AI upscaling through Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3, an uncapped framerate, Japanese and Chinese voice tracks, ultrawide screen compatibility, higher-resolution environmental textures, and DualSense integration for haptics and adaptive triggers.
The PC release was initially restricted in more than 100 countries, but has since expanded to over 250 territories. Mod support is also already thriving, with countless mods emerging—many introducing gameplay adjustments and enhancements since the demo's release several weeks ago. Be aware, though, that some mod content may not be appropriate for all audiences.
Stellar Blade has performed so strongly for developer Shift Up that a sequel is officially in the works. Published by Sony, the action title launched to positive feedback in April 2024, with players noting its blend of mechanics from NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
IGN's Stellar Blade review scored it 7/10, stating: "Stellar Blade excels in the core areas that define a great action game, though unmemorable characters, a underwhelming narrative, and some irritating RPG systems keep it from ranking among the genre's elite."
