
There was a time when DC's Batman seemed to receive a brand new video game almost annually. The Dark Knight was a constant topic of discussion, and his critically acclaimed series developed by Rocksteady is widely credited with igniting the modern golden age of superhero gaming that continues to thrive.
Lately, however, Batman’s presence in the gaming world has become less prominent. The Caped Crusader hasn't starred in a major solo title since 2017's The Enemy Within, and there is no indication that this situation will change in the near future. Although comic book enthusiasts have many anticipated superhero games on the horizon, those wishing to step into Bruce Wayne's boots must revisit past classics to experience the best Batman games.
Updated December 23, 2024 by Mark Sammut: While new Batman games have been rare in recent years, 2024 turned out to be a significant period for the Caped Crusader. He featured in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, although Rocksteady's title isn't primarily a Batman game. The Arkhamverse, however, was expanded with a new entry, this time in virtual reality. The section covering that particular release has been updated. Additionally, image galleries have been included for several of the best Batman games.
