Shift Up, the developer behind the acclaimed action role-playing game *Stellar Blade*, has reported a record-breaking financial year. The game generated an impressive $43 million in royalties, contributing significantly to the company's total revenue of $151.4 million for 2024, marking a 30.4% increase from the previous year. This financial success highlights the strong market performance of *Stellar Blade*, which has resonated well with gamers since its launch on the PlayStation 5.
The momentum isn't expected to wane, as Shift Up anticipates that the upcoming PC version of *Stellar Blade* will surpass the sales of the original console release. This optimism is particularly strong in the Asian gaming market, where the PC gaming community is robust. In addition to expanding *Stellar Blade*'s reach, Shift Up is set to unveil a new game, *Project Witches*, in the first half of 2025. Although fans are eagerly awaiting a sequel to *Stellar Blade*, *Project Witches* was announced shortly after the PS5 release and does not appear to be connected to the *Stellar Blade* franchise. However, Shift Up has expressed interest in potentially developing a follow-up to *Stellar Blade* in the future.
*Stellar Blade* immerses players in the role of Eve, who fights against mysterious invaders to reclaim Earth through dynamic and fast-paced action combat. Despite receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN, the game has proven popular, quickly reaching the milestone of one million copies sold. IGN's review noted that while *Stellar Blade* excels in crucial aspects of action gaming, it is held back by unengaging characters, a lackluster narrative, and some frustrating RPG mechanics, preventing it from being considered among the genre's elite titles.
