When Poker Meets Solitaire, It’s Called Balatro! Now Out On Android

The hit indie game Balatro is now available on Android! Published by Playstack and developed by LocalThunk, it quickly became a 2024 sensation after its February console and PC release.

This roguelike deck-builder puts a unique twist on classic card games like Poker and Solitaire. At its heart, Balatro challenges you to build the best poker hands while battling challenging bosses and navigating a constantly evolving deck.

Understanding Balatro's Gameplay

Players face off against bosses known as "Blinds," each imposing unique restrictions on gameplay. Success hinges on accumulating chips and crafting powerful poker hands to outmaneuver these bosses and survive until the final showdown with Ante 8's special Boss Blind.

Each hand introduces new Jokers, each possessing unique abilities to disrupt opponents or provide crucial advantages. Some Jokers might multiply your score or boost your in-game funds.

Players customize their deck with special cards. Planet cards, for example, modify specific poker hands, enabling upgrades. Tarot cards alter card ranks and suits, sometimes yielding extra chips.

Balatro offers Campaign and Challenge modes. With over 150 Jokers, every playthrough is distinct. Check out the intriguing trailer below!

A Roguelike Deck-Builder with a Poker Twist

Balatro masterfully blends strategy with unpredictable card draws. The constant element of surprise with Jokers and bonus hands is a key part of the game's appeal. The pixel art visuals, reminiscent of classic CRT displays, add to the game's charm.

If you enjoy roguelikes and deck-building, Balatro is a must-try. Grab it now for $9.99 on the Google Play Store.
