Akupara Games has been prolific lately, releasing several titles recently. We previously covered their deck-building game Zoeti, and now we're looking at The Darkside Detective, a puzzle game. And for a bonus, its sequel, The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark, is also available (yes, both at once!).
What's the Deal with The Darkside Detective?
The game opens on a gloomy, fog-shrouded night in Twin Lakes, a city where the strange, spooky, and utterly absurd are everyday occurrences. Our heroes are Detective Francis McQueen and his partner, the endearingly clumsy Officer Patrick Dooley.
Together, they form the Darkside Division, a perpetually underfunded branch of the Twin Lakes Police Department. You'll solve nine short cases with them, navigating the hilarious and bizarre world of The Darkside Detective and its equally clever sequel, A Fumble in the Dark.
These point-and-click adventures throw everything at you: time-traveling puzzles, flesh-hungry tentacles, carnival mysteries, and even mafia zombies. Check out the trailer below for a taste!

---------------------------
The game is a love letter to pop culture, brimming with references to classic horror films, sci-fi shows, and buddy cop movies. The cases themselves have wonderfully quirky titles like "Malice in Wonderland," "Tome Alone," "Disorient Express," "Police Farce," "Don of the Dead," "Buy Hard," and "Baits Motel."
The game's masterful blend of humor is one of its greatest strengths, evident in every pixel. If you're interested, The Darkside Detective is available on the Google Play Store for $6.99. You can also jump straight into A Fumble in the Dark without playing the first game – it's also on Google Play.
