Following Nintendo Switch 2's announcement, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has confirmed Xbox's ongoing commitment to Nintendo platforms. In a recent Variety interview, Spencer emphasized how this partnership helps Xbox reach players beyond its own ecosystems.
Xbox Commits to Switch 2 Support
Spencer stated: "Just as we've supported the original Switch, we want to support Switch 2. Nintendo remains a fantastic partner that helps us connect with non-Xbox and non-PC gamers."
The Xbox leader highlighted Nintendo's unique position in gaming: "It allows us to expand our fanbase for existing franchises. Continuing this investment remains crucial for our gaming strategy."
"I strongly believe in Nintendo's industry value," Spencer continued. "Their support for our franchises represents an important part of Xbox's future."
Multiplatform Strategy Continues
Spencer first praised Nintendo's innovation during Switch 2's teaser period, simultaneously confirming Xbox's multiplatform approach encompassing PlayStation, Steam and Nintendo consoles.
When questioned about Switch 2's reveal impacting Xbox hardware plans, Spencer remained focused: "Our priority remains serving our existing communities. While inspired by others' creations, we're confident in our strategic direction."
The executive reaffirmed Xbox's commitment to widespread game availability across cloud, PC and consoles. Successful ports like Pentiment and Grounded demonstrate this philosophy, leaving fans curious about potential Switch 2 titles.
