2023年1月24日，暴雪与网易的合作协议到期，导致暴雪旗下几乎所有游戏在中国大陆地区下架，其中就包括《守望先锋2》。幸运的是，2024年4月，双方重归于好，开启了漫长的游戏恢复进程，为全球人口最多的国家之一的中国玩家带来了希望。
如今，《守望先锋2》终于要胜利回归中国了。在守望先锋系列全球总经理Walter Kong分享的一段简短视频中，暴雪宣布续作将于2月19日——也就是《守望先锋2》第15赛季开始之际——重返中国。在此之前，1月8日至15日将进行公开技术测试，让所有中国玩家有机会体验全部42位英雄，包括第14赛季新推出的坦克英雄Hazard，以及经典的6v6游戏模式。
更令人兴奋的是，2025年，《守望先锋》电竞赛事将强势回归，届时中国玩家将能够在一个全新的中国赛区展开角逐。更重要的是，2025年首场线下《守望先锋》冠军系列赛将在杭州举行，以庆祝游戏在中国市场的胜利回归。
为了更直观地展现中国玩家错过了多少内容，他们的服务器在《守望先锋2》第2赛季关闭。当时游戏中的最新英雄是拉玛特拉，这意味着他们将有六位新英雄需要体验：生命织师、伊利里、毛加、温彻斯特、朱诺和Hazard。除此之外，闪点和冲突模式、南极半岛、萨摩亚和鲁纳萨皮地图以及入侵剧情任务都是在服务器关闭后发布的——更不用说大量的英雄重做和平衡调整了——所以中国玩家需要追赶的内容非常多。
不幸的是，《守望先锋2》2025年农历新年活动的结束时间似乎与游戏回归中国的时间相近，这意味着中国玩家可能会错过这个游戏内活动，包括其新皮肤和捉迷藏游戏模式的回归。希望《守望先锋2》能够举办一个延迟的活动版本，让中国玩家能够在游戏中庆祝他们的新年，并同时回归未来地球。
