Osmos is back on Google Play with a brand-new port after a brief absence

The critically acclaimed cell-absorbing puzzle game, Osmos, is back on Android! Previously removed due to playability issues stemming from outdated technology, developer Hemisphere Games has released a completely revamped version.

For those unfamiliar, Osmos is a unique physics-based puzzle where you absorb smaller organisms while avoiding being absorbed yourself. Simple yet captivating, this award-winning game was previously unavailable on modern Android devices.

Now, years after its initial 2010 release, Osmos returns to Google Play with a brand-new port optimized for current Android operating systems. Experience this micro-organic battle royale like never before.

Hemisphere Games explains in a blog post that initial Android development relied on Apportable, a porting studio that has since closed, hindering further updates. This resulted in Osmos' removal from app stores due to incompatibility with modern 64-bit systems. The new release addresses these issues with a completely rebuilt port.
