Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart recently provided an update on the development of The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed, confirming that both projects are progressing well, despite facing significant challenges.
Obsidian's Multi-Title Development Journey
In a recent interview with Limit Break Network, Urquhart shared insights into the studio's journey, acknowledging a period of intense pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic and post-Microsoft acquisition. The simultaneous development of multiple titles, including Grounded and Pentiment, presented considerable hurdles. Urquhart candidly admitted a period of strained development, even considering halting The Outer Worlds 2 to focus resources on Avowed. However, the studio persevered, ultimately completing all projects.
Urquhart highlighted the team's dedication and expertise, particularly within the Outer Worlds 2 team, many of whom worked on the original title. He expressed strong confidence in their ability to deliver a high-quality sequel. He confirmed that Grounded and Pentiment were successfully launched, and Avowed is shaping up well, with The Outer Worlds 2 described as "looking incredible."

Addressing Delays and Future Expectations
While The Outer Worlds 2, announced in 2021, has seen limited updates, Urquhart acknowledged the possibility of launch delays. Similar to Avowed, which has been pushed back to 2025, adjustments to the original timelines are anticipated. Despite this, Urquhart reaffirmed Obsidian's commitment to delivering exceptional gaming experiences, stating that both titles are on track for release on PC and Xbox Series S/X.

While specific gameplay details remain undisclosed, the positive outlook from Obsidian's CEO suggests that fans can anticipate the release of both The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed in the future, albeit potentially with revised release dates.
