在游戏的第一轮流程中，你无法随时切换角色。每个流程中操控的角色如下：
选择游戏的主要结局之一后，你将解锁章节选择模式，现在你可以选择操控的角色了。使用章节选择模式，你可以选择游戏的17个章节中的任何一个来重新开始。在许多章节中，你会看到屏幕右侧的数字会根据已完成或未完成的支线任务而变化。如果某个角色在该章节中有任何数字，你可以选择以该角色的身份重新游玩该章节。
某些后期的章节，大部分是流程3的章节，只允许你以特定角色的身份游玩特定章节，这一点不会改变。通过章节选择，你可以随时更换角色，但你也需要将游戏进度切换到该角色在主线故事中可操控的任何位置。只要你在进入另一个章节之前保存游戏，在章节选择模式中完成的任何操作都将保留，让你在努力达到最高等级时提升所有三个角色的共享等级。
