Marvel Rivals' Nexus Mods controversy escalates after over 500 mods were submitted in a single month. The removal of mods replacing Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump sparked outrage among users.
Nexus Mods owner, TheDarkOne, clarified the removals on Reddit, stating both mods were deleted simultaneously to prevent accusations of partisanship. TheDarkOne noted the curious silence from YouTubers on this simultaneous removal.
However, the situation worsened. Following the deletions, TheDarkOne reported receiving numerous threats. "We're receiving death threats, being called pedophiles, and enduring all sorts of insults simply because someone chose to escalate this," TheDarkOne stated.
This isn't the first time Nexus Mods' moderation policies have ignited controversy. In 2022, a Spider-Man Remastered mod replacing rainbow flags with American flags was removed. The site's owners then publicly affirmed their commitment to inclusivity and their policy of removing content that contradicts this principle.
TheDarkOne concluded by stating, "We won't waste time on those who find this objectionable."
