In a world brimming with video games, finding a truly unique title can be a challenge. My Father Lied, however, stands out with its captivating narrative. This mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure boasts a compelling story that sets it apart from the crowd.
My Father Lied: An Indie Developer's Vision
The game's creation story is fascinating. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, wasn't initially a game designer. In 2020, he was a writer and filmmaker. A collaborative game project with a college friend fell through, but the core story remained. Alameen, driven by his vision, taught himself 3D modeling and Unreal Engine, single-handedly bringing his concept to life. Even the game's title was a collaborative effort with his wife.
Unraveling the Mystery
My Father Lied plunges players into a captivating mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian myths. Players assume the role of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old question: What happened to her father? The answer, as the story unfolds, is far from straightforward.
The game blends ancient Mesopotamian lore with modern storytelling. The puzzles are user-friendly, employing a simple point-and-click interface, and the visuals are stunning, featuring beautiful 2D artwork and 360-degree imagery.
