Stealth is Paramount: Tracking relies on your sense of smell. Use the scent button to locate nearby AI animals, indicated by animal icons. A meter appears when crouching, showing how close you are to spooking the animal. Movement directly impacts this meter.

The speed of your approach is critical. Sprinting fills the meter instantly, running significantly affects it, trotting is slower, and walking is the slowest and best option for a close approach. Wind direction also plays a role. Approaching downwind spooks the animal quickly, crosswind is moderate, while upwind is ideal.

Patience and Observation: A question mark above the animal icon indicates increased detection risk. Stop moving completely until the question mark disappears to avoid spooking the animal.

The Chase: The meter will likely fill before you reach the AI. Be ready to sprint when it runs; while AI animals are fast, sprinting should allow you to catch them. Their movement is erratic, so open fields with clear sightlines are recommended.

The Capture and Feast: Get very close to the AI to initiate the bite. Once captured, drop and eat your prey. Repeat this hunting cycle to your satisfaction.
