Gotham Knights on Nintendo Switch 2?

A game developer's resume hints at a possible Nintendo Switch 2 release for Gotham Knights, sparking excitement among gamers. Let's delve into the details of this intriguing rumor.

Gotham Knights: Coming to Nintendo Switch 2?

A Resume Reveals a Potential Port

Gotham Knights Potential Switch 2 Release

On January 5th, 2025, YouTuber Doctre81 highlighted a game developer's resume suggesting Gotham Knights is slated for two currently unreleased platforms. The developer, employed by QLOC from 2018 to 2023, listed various titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. The key detail? Gotham Knights' inclusion, attributed to work on two unannounced consoles.

One platform is potentially the original Nintendo Switch, given its past ESRB rating. However, performance issues on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S might have hindered a Switch port. The listing of another unreleased platform strongly suggests the Nintendo Switch 2.

It's crucial to remember this is unconfirmed speculation. No official statements have been made by Warner Bros. Games or Nintendo.

Past ESRB Rating and Subsequent Removal

Gotham Knights' ESRB Rating History

Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch, fueling speculation of an imminent release. Some even anticipated a Nintendo Direct announcement. However, this rating was later removed, and the game never materialized on the original Switch. This past rating, combined with the recent YouTube report, now lends credence to a potential Switch 2 launch.

Nintendo Switch 2: Backwards Compatibility and Upcoming Announcement

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa tweeted on May 7th, 2024, promising more details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year," ending in March 2025. He also confirmed backwards compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online. Whether physical cartridges will also be supported remains unclear.
