Diablo 4首个资料片即将发布，暴雪阐述其对暗黑系列的未来规划，以及对玩家体验的重视。
暴雪表示，计划长期运营暗黑4，尤其考虑到其已成为公司史上最畅销游戏。在近期接受VGC采访时，《暗黑破坏神》系列负责人Rod Fergusson和《暗黑破坏神4》执行制作人Gavian Whishaw表示，所有暗黑系列游戏（包括暗黑4、3、2甚至初代）的持续运营和玩家兴趣，对暴雪而言都是双赢局面。
Fergusson告诉VGC：“你会注意到，暴雪很少停止运营任何游戏。你仍然可以玩暗黑1、暗黑2、暗黑2：重制版和暗黑3，对吧？玩家玩暴雪游戏是一件很棒的事情。”
当被问及暗黑4玩家数量与之前的暗黑作品不相上下是否会成为问题时，Fergusson表示，“人们玩哪个版本都不是问题”。他继续说道：“暗黑2：重制版令人兴奋的一点是，这款21年前游戏的重制版拥有庞大的粉丝群体。所以，让玩家留在我们的生态系统中，玩并喜爱暴雪游戏，这是一个巨大的积极因素。”
Fergusson进一步表示，暴雪希望玩家“玩他们想玩的游戏”。虽然如果更多玩家从暗黑3转向暗黑4，对公司来说会有财务上的好处，但他指出，公司“并没有试图积极地引导玩家转移”。

该资料片将引入一个新的区域——纳汉图，那里有新的城镇、地牢和古老的文明等待探索。此外，它还将游戏剧情继续推进，玩家寻找游戏中的主要英雄奈瑞尔，将深入古老的丛林，揭开并终结邪恶霸主墨菲斯托策划的恶意阴谋。
