The Blood of Dawnwalker recently held its game reveal event, shedding light on the much-anticipated open-world dark fantasy action-RPG. Dive into the details of what was unveiled and what you can expect from this intriguing new title!
Welcome to Vale Sangora
Follow the Dawnwalker Protagonist, Coen
The Blood of Dawnwalker's official game reveal event took place on January 16th, unveiling a treasure trove of details about this upcoming narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy action-RPG.
Step into the shoes of Coen, the Dawnwalker protagonist, as he navigates the delicate balance between day and night in the fictional 14th-century Medieval European land of Vale Sangora. Narrative director Jakub Szamalek described Coen as an atypical protagonist, noting, "He’s a young guy who at heart is emotional, he can get vulnerable, he’s honest about how he feels." The reveal trailer introduces us to Coen's nemesis, Brencis, an ancient vampire who has seized control of Vale Sangora. In this crumbling world, Coen is on a mission to save his family within a tight 30-day and 30-night timeframe. The developers have confirmed that the in-game flow of time will allow for extensive gameplay hours.
In the trailer, Coen demonstrates superhuman abilities attributed to his vampiric nature, such as sliding down a massive building unscathed and seamlessly phasing between enemies. He also wields magic, casting missiles at will. Despite the game being in its early stages, these glimpses have sparked numerous questions among fans.

Rebel Wolves took to Discord to address some of these questions. A dedicated FAQ channel on the game's official Discord server emerged post-reveal event, catering to the burgeoning fanbase's curiosity.
What exactly are Dawnwalkers? They appear human by day but transform into vampires at night. Rebel Wolves clarifies that Dawnwalkers are not merely half-human, half-vampire hybrids but a unique entity altogether. The magic system in the game is understated and rare, focusing on the occult—rituals, amulets, relics, and summonings—rather than the typical flashy spells of pure fantasy settings.
A Narrative Sandbox Experience With Lots Of People To Meet

Coen, afflicted with the curse of silver poisoning, is driven to save his family from impending doom. Yet, the developers emphasize that The Blood of Dawnwalker will offer a "narrative sandbox" experience, granting players substantial control over the storyline. The game promises "maximum emphasis on player's agency and freedom to explore storylines with one clear goal but many, many ways to achieve it." This nonlinear approach allows the world to evolve based on player choices.
While the game will remain strictly single-player to preserve the immersive campaign experience, Coen will encounter a diverse cast of characters, including uriashi, kobolds, and possibly even werewolves. Romantic interactions will be possible, ensuring Coen isn't alone on his dark journey.
Rebel Wolves, founded by former CD Projekt Red developers known for their work on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has yet to confirm a release date for The Blood of Dawnwalker. However, it is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
