Get Ready for Xbox's Android App Launch!
Xbox is bringing its mobile gaming experience to a whole new level. An official announcement confirms the arrival of a feature-rich Xbox Android app, potentially as early as next month (November). This exciting development will allow Android users to purchase and play games directly through the app.
The news, shared on X by Xbox president Sarah Bond, highlights the impact of the recent court ruling in Google's antitrust battle with Epic Games. This ruling mandates that the Google Play Store provide expanded options and greater flexibility for third-party app stores. This opens the door for Xbox's direct-to-consumer app.
The ruling requires Google to grant rival app stores access to its entire app catalog and distribute these third-party stores for three years, starting November 1st, 2024.
What's New?
While an existing Xbox app allows for game downloads to Xbox consoles and cloud streaming for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the November update introduces direct game purchases within the app itself. This significantly enhances the Android gaming experience for Xbox users.
More details will be revealed in November. Until then, check out the CNBC article for further information. And don't miss our coverage of the Solo Leveling: Arise Autumn Update!
