Application Description
This simple non-field RPG challenges you to escape a cursed forest.
-Prologue-
You're the village's best hunter. News of a national hunting tournament near the royal capital reaches you, and you journey there. After attending the opening ceremony, you venture into the forest. Waking after your first night camping, you discover something unsettling: everyone else is gone. Only the remnants of a large hunter encampment remain. The national guard, responsible for overseeing the tournament, has vanished. No one is anywhere to be found.
Realizing the danger of aimless wandering, you wait, but no one appears. You begin walking, only to encounter the next bizarre event: a tree with unusual branches…a tree you're sure you saw just moments ago. You were heading north, aiming to return to the forest's entrance, but you're back in the same spot. This is baffling, even for a hunter renowned for their sense of direction. Whether you move or stay put, you remain lost. Fighting panic, you continue exploring.
-What is the "Elven Curse"?-
Aided by a quarter-elf, you, the hunter, must escape the cursed forest. This is a straightforward RPG with a maximum of three button presses at any given time (excluding the main menu).
-Character Creation-
While character customization isn't available, you can reroll your stats as many times as needed. The status increase rate upon leveling up is only visible on this screen; it cannot be checked during gameplay. This information serves as a return item.
When you have fewer than two "talismans" and your character's life force reaches zero, your character is lost.
-Foria, the Peddler Quarter-Elf-
A boy (or perhaps not) encountered in the forest. Despite his youthful appearance, he claims to be older than you and, while seemingly uninvolved, secretly aids your escape by harnessing the forest's ancient spirits.
-Scenario and Scene-
The prologue unfolds smoothly like a picture story, with Foria's dialogue delivered in a cheerful tone. The game's worldview is conveyed through understated, simple, yet evocative language.
-Exploration Mode-
Forest paths connecting base locations are revealed by exploring unexplored areas in each section. The outcome of each exploration attempt is determined by the area's "fog depth," influenced by your character's stats. If your life force is depleted, use poison or rare "talismans" to recover, or return to Foria.
-Beast Encounters & Hunter Battles-
Fierce creatures roam the forest, from wild dogs and wolves to surprisingly aggressive frogs and rabbits. Killing them yields hides that can be traded with Foria. Unlike typical RPGs, there's no leveling up through combat. The goal is escape, and there are no set boss battles. All battles are avoidable (though this requires luck or skillful play).
As a hunter, you use a bow and arrow. You must maintain a safe distance to attack, preventing counterattacks. At this distance, you can also use wound medicine. Closing the distance, however, results in a one-sided attack. You can then choose to withdraw (success depends on your abilities) or use a flash ball provided by Foria for guaranteed escape.
-Cloak & Layering System-
Using branches, resin, and leather, you create a cloak that enhances your abilities. Up to three layers can be worn, with ability increases stacking. In rare cases, the cloak may restore your vitality. Note that the top layer can be damaged and become unusable. The cloak is the only equipment change in the game. Your bow and arrow remain constant.
This is not just a game; it's an experience. A game of inflation, random skill selection, reflexes, strategy, skill, and luck. A game of material collection, synthesis, and alchemy. A game where preparation is key. A relaxing game that allows for progress even with casual play.
Auto-Save: The game auto-saves, but not during battles. To ensure save progress, close the app from the base menu.
