Application Description

Reset DTCs and monitor DPF status in BMW vehicles

Bimmer-Tool enables reading and clearing fault codes, initiating DPF regeneration, accessing live engine data, and more for BMW models.

For pre-2008 models, functionality may be limited. We recommend using a K+DCan USB cable connection as wireless ELM adapters may have compatibility issues.

Note: A high-quality OBD adapter is essential. Recommended options include K+DCan cable, ENET adapter (F/G series), or these Bluetooth adapters:

- Vgate vLinker MC/FS/BM/FD https://www.vgatemall.com/products/

- UniCarScan UCSI-2000/USCI-2100: Configure to D-Can mode: MODE2 https://www.wgsoft.de/shop/obd-2-komplettsysteme/unicarscan/114/unicarscan-ucsi-2000-diagnoseadapter

https://www.bmdiag.co.uk/unicarscan-ucsi-2000-bluetooth-obd2-adapter

- Carista https://caristaapp.com/adapter

- Veepeak OBDCheck BLE https://www.veepeak.com/product/obdcheck-ble

Key features:

- Monitor DPF regeneration status and parameters

- Initiate DPF regeneration

- Reset DPF adaptations (post-filter replacement)

- Read exhaust backpressure

- Access injector compensation values

- View actual vs. specified values for MAF, MAP, and fuel pressure

- Export CSV logs for analysis

- Register battery replacement

- Reset short-circuit locked lamp circuits

- Reset service intervals for oil/brakes

Compatible OBD adapters:

- K+DCan USB: Most reliable option (requires USB-OTG cable)

- ENET cable/WiFi: Ideal for F/G series (needs USB-C to Ethernet adapter)

- ELM327 Bluetooth: May experience latency (authentic PIC18-based adapters only)

- ELM327 WiFi: Less stable (may require disabling mobile data)

For assistance, contact us via email (see footer).

Getting started

1) Plug adapter into OBD-II port

2) Switch ignition ON

3) Establish connection:

* USB: Connect via OTG cable (select bimmer-tool when prompted)

* Bluetooth: Pair adapter (PIN typically 0000/1234)

* WiFi: Disable mobile data and connect to adapter's network

4) Launch app → Select vehicle model/year under 'Car'

5) Navigate to 'Connection' → Choose protocol/adapter

6) Tap 'Connect'

**Limitations:

Pre-2008 models (including e46/e39/e83/e53) require K+DCan cable and support only engine ECU diagnostics.

Troubleshooting

- Intermittent 'No response' errors: Try enabling ATWM in advanced settings

- Connection failures: Force-stop all diagnostic apps or reboot device

Permission requirements

- Storage: USB adapter functionality

- Media/Files: CSV generation

- Bluetooth: Wireless adapter support

- Network access: WiFi operation

- Location: Bluetooth API requirement (not utilized)
