In the expansive world of NieR: Automata, players have a wide array of weapons at their disposal, from the quirky Iron Pipe to the formidable Type-40 Blade. Among these, there's a special treat for fans of Square Enix: the iconic Engine Blade from Final Fantasy 15. This weapon can be acquired during your first playthrough of NieR: Automata. Let's dive into where to find it and explore its basic stats.

Where To Find The Engine Blade In NieR: Automata

To get your hands on the Engine Blade, you'll need to venture into the factory. It's not available during the game's intro, so patience is key. You'll have to return as 2B later in the game. For a quicker route, use Chapter Select mode to jump directly to Chapter 9. Start or fast travel to the Factory: Hanger access point, which is located partway through the factory.

From the access point, head right along the path, which shifts to a 2D camera angle. You'll pass a fenced-off section, climb broken stairs, and navigate a conveyor belt with boxes. Be cautious of the next conveyor belt with descending presses that can crush you. After safely crossing, jump up to a cylinder where you'll encounter two spider-like enemies.

Proceed through the door to your left, ascend more stairs, and be ready for exploding enemies descending towards you. Midway up, you'll reach a spot where the railing ends and the platform extends toward the camera. Walk forward to switch the camera angle, entering another 2D platforming section. Jump along the top of the presses, following the path to the left. At the end, you'll find a room with three chests. The Engine Blade awaits in the chest on the left, while a locked chest sits on the right.

Be prepared for more exploding enemies dropping from the ceiling as you approach the chests.

Engine Blade Basic Stats In NieR: Automata

  • Attack: 160-200
  • Combo: Light 5, Heavy 3

The Engine Blade can be upgraded four times, eventually boosting its light combo to 7 attacks. To achieve these upgrades, you'll need to find the Masamune. Unlike the Iron Pipe, the Engine Blade boasts a low damage spread, making it an excellent choice for players who prefer predictability in their damage output.
