Dragon Age: The Veilguard Director Reportedly Exits BioWare

Mar 06,2025 Author: Sadie

Corinne Busche, director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is reportedly departing from BioWare, an EA-owned studio. Eurogamer reports her departure, expected in the coming weeks, follows her tenure as game director from February 2022 until the game's launch last October. EA has yet to comment.

While the game's commercial success has been questioned since its release, Eurogamer indicates Busche's departure is unrelated to its performance. EA's Q3 2025 financial results, scheduled for February 4th, will likely shed light on the game's sales figures.

BioWare has confirmed no DLC is planned for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, shifting its focus to Mass Effect 5. This follows August 2023 layoffs affecting approximately 50 employees, including veteran narrative designer Mary Kirby. These layoffs coincided with an EA restructuring and rumors of potential BioWare acquisition. The decision to transition Star Wars: The Old Republic to a third-party developer was reportedly made to allow BioWare to concentrate on Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

The Dragon Age: The Veilguard reveal in 2024 initially faced negative feedback, prompting a swift release of early gameplay footage to appease fans. The title change from Dreadwolf to The Veilguard also drew criticism. Despite initial concerns, later impressions of the game were generally positive.

The future of the Dragon Age franchise remains uncertain, leaving fans questioning whether BioWare will be given the opportunity to develop a sequel to The Veilguard.
