As someone who transitioned from Xbox to PC gaming, I've always been content with the plethora of deals on Steam. However, the recent additions to Xbox Game Pass have changed my perspective. Yesterday, Bethesda and Virtuos surprised us with the shadow-drop of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered directly onto Game Pass. Although it was a poorly kept secret, the reveal was still mind-blowing. Tomorrow, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the debut title from Sandfall Interactive inspired by JRPG classics, will join the service. As a dedicated RPG enthusiast, I must admit, Microsoft, you've finally won me over.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled and released on PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22. Like many others, I spent the day downloading the game and the night immersed in its enchanting music. The remaster, which feels almost like a new game, boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and updated visual effects. While over five new voice actors were added, Virtuos wisely retained the original game's quirky dialogue. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, which includes the original DLCs, with a deluxe edition available for an additional $10.

On the other hand, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 marks the much-anticipated debut of French studio Sandfall Interactive. Set to launch at midnight PST tonight in the U.S., it has garnered a stellar 92 rating on Metacritic. IGN's 9/10 review lauded its narrative design, calling it "a true modern throwback." The game's sleek UI echoes the Persona series, and early gameplay footage reveals an exceptionally innovative turn-based combat system. Priced at $49.99 for the base edition, it matches the cost of the Bethesda remaster.
Despite being the highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, Expedition 33 might be overshadowed by the unexpected release of Oblivion Remastered. Yet, from my perspective, having both titles available on Game Pass is like having two fantastic options without breaking the bank. Instead of shelling out $100 for two new games, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only question is when I'll see the outside world again.
Game Pass has also recently added other major 2025 titles like *Blue Prince*, *South of Midnight*, and *Avowed*, alongside evergreen favorites such as *GTA V* and the entire *Call of Duty* series. There truly is something for everyone.Game Pass Ultimate is priced at $19.99 per month, offering access to the full Game Pass library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-only Game Pass is more budget-friendly at $9.99 per month. The Standard and Core tiers, at $14.99 and $9.99 per month respectively, do not include day one releases. The most recent price increase occurred in July 2024, and with these exciting game launches, another hike might be on the horizon.
Currently, there are no active Game Pass deals, but securing a three-month subscription could protect you from potential future price increases.
