X-Men star Alan Cumming is once again hinting at new information about Avengers: Doomsday, including a potential comeback for Halle Berry as Storm.
In a recent Entertainment Tonight interview, The Traitors host was questioned about whether Berry would also be returning for Marvel's upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, alongside Cumming and a host of other actors from previous X-Men films.
"Well... maybe she does," Cumming hinted with a laugh. "But honestly, I'm the last person to ask," he quickly added.
This isn't the first or even the second time Cumming has dropped Avengers: Doomsday details that Marvel likely intended to keep under wraps. Last month, the actor disclosed that he filmed "the entire movie in isolation" and mentioned finishing his scenes early to begin production on the next season of The Traitors.
Back in May, the famously talkative Cumming fueled speculation about Doomsday's storyline by revealing he had shot a fight scene opposite Reed Richards actor Pedro Pascal — a statement he later tried to downplay, suggesting he might have been mistaken. ("I broke the internet by mentioning something once," Cumming said last month, "but honestly, I might have got it wrong.")
Avengers: Doomsday will feature the return of numerous X-Men actors from 20th Century Fox's earlier mutant films. Cumming is set to share the screen with Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Ian McKellen as Magneto — and possibly other cast members Cumming has yet to tease.
Berry portrayed Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm, in 2000's X-Men and later reprised the role in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Berry herself has previously expressed doubt about returning for Doomsday, addressing whether her name would appear in another surprise reveal. "Well, keep waiting," she told a reporter when asked about it. "It's not gonna be there."
Doomsday is expected to offer a final send-off for the original X-Men cast before Marvel introduces its own reboot. Following the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, MCU head Kevin Feige has confirmed that a partially reset timeline will introduce a new, younger X-Men team in an upcoming film directed by Thunderbolts*/The New Avengers' Jake Schreier. Hopefully, Cumming will be invited back for that project to share more inside details.
