In the world of mecha, Japan is the undisputed pioneer, having established two foundational subgenres: real robot and super robot. Now, My.Games' War Robots is partnering with veteran designer Kunio Okawara to introduce an exclusive in-game creation.
Okawara is perhaps best known for co-designing the iconic, titular Gundam with writer Yoshiyuki Tomino. This instantly recognizable symbol of the real robot genre has starred in countless series and even major Hollywood films like Ready Player One.
Pilots will soon command an original mech from Kunio Okawara himself: the exclusive SWORD Unit 190, developed in-lore by the DSC Corporation. Okawara has also crafted designs for its optional drones and plasma guns.
Real SteelThe new SWORD unit will be available soon, taking center stage in the upcoming MECHA Raider S.W.O.R.D event from May 20th to June 1st. This event is a full-fledged homage to the classic real robot genre.
The War Robots team's decision to collaborate with Okawara is a natural fit. Even for those unfamiliar with his legacy, this vibrant new design promises to be a thrilling addition to any arsenal.
