Vampire Hunters in Bloodlines 2: What to Expect

The Chinese Room's recent development update for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 sheds new light on the game's vampire hunters, a faction known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB). Operating on a secretive shadow budget without official government backing, the IAB conducts their vampire hunts under the guise of "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts." These agents, who refer to vampires as "Hollow Ones," are a formidable force in the game's shadowy world.

Leading the IAB in Seattle is Agent Baker, a disciplined and pragmatic leader whose sole mission is the permanent eradication of vampires. Known as "The Hen" among her loyal followers due to her authoritative presence, Baker meticulously tracks down strange occurrences and delves into historical data to uncover the links to the hidden vampire society. Her dedication and strategic approach make her a significant adversary for players.

The IAB's hunters are not only well-coordinated but also highly protective of their base, employing external and internal security measures. Confronting them alone is daunting; they operate in synchronized teams, use spotlights for surveillance, and communicate via portable radios. In combat, they wield thermic batons that can bypass defensive maneuvers and deploy phosphorous grenades to flush enemies from cover. Their sniper crossbows are particularly lethal, firing explosive bolts that can cause devastating damage if not promptly removed.

Despite their prowess, these hunters have vulnerabilities. Physically weaker than both ghouls and vampires, they can be outmaneuvered with specific in-game skills. For instance, characters with the Fire ability can catch grenades or bolts in mid-air and hurl them back at the hunters. Additionally, players utilizing the Ventru clan's powers can possess an enemy, turning them against their own team, offering a strategic advantage in combat.

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to be released in the first half of 2025, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising an immersive experience filled with strategic depth and intense encounters with the IAB hunters.
