Akatsuki Games has recently announced the end of service (EOS) for their latest game, Tribe Nine! It's hard to believe, especially since the game was launched on Android, iOS, and PC via Steam just a few months ago in February. What could have led to such an early demise? Let's dive in and find out.
When Is the Tribe Nine EOS?
Tribe Nine is set to officially shut down on November 27th, 2025. Alongside this disappointing news, Akatsuki Games has confirmed that Chapter 4 of the main story will not be released. This comes right after the game teased some exciting developments, making the shutdown even more disheartening.
As of May 15th, all new updates, features, bug fixes, and content releases have been halted. The previously announced adjustments and new features mentioned in in-game notices are no longer happening.
Two anticipated characters, Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba, who were set to join the roster, will not be added. Furthermore, refunds will be issued for Paid Enigma Entities used on items like Armed Support, Advanced Support, and the Support Contract – Revenio, effective after the Revenio contract ends.
Purchases of Enigma Entities and Daily Passes are no longer available through the app or the web store. However, players can still use their existing Enigma Entities until Tribe Nine's official shutdown.
Why Did It Fail So Soon?
Tribe Nine is a free-to-play extreme action RPG known for its unique style and worldbuilding. Despite being a good game, it faced challenges right from the start.
The game suffered from a very slow release schedule, with only one story chapter and one event released in the first three months. Additionally, there was little incentive for players to spend money, as building a strong team was possible with just one pull, and duplicate characters (dupes) were not necessary. This was beneficial for players but detrimental to the developers' revenue.
Opting for a gacha model seems to have been a risky move for Tribe Nine, and unfortunately, it did not pay off. Despite its early closure, the game remains playable until November 27th, so if you haven't tried it yet, you can still check it out on the Google Play Store.
