In Path of Exile 2's The Slithering Dead side quest, Servi—the Ziggurat Encampment's guide—seeks your help uncovering mysteries surrounding a rival tribe and the disappearance of her son, Apus.
While straightforward to complete once you locate the correct path, players often struggle when selecting rewards. Servi offers three unique Venom Draught options, and your choice is permanent—no switching allowed.
Step-by-Step Guide: Completing The Slithering Dead Quest
Begin The Slithering Dead by entering the Jungle Ruins area during Act 3 (or Act 3 Cruel). Look for the Venom Crypts entrance situated near the Jungle Ruins Waypoint.
This jungle map contains two exits: Venom Crypts leads to this optional quest, while Infested Barrens progresses the main storyline (Legacy of the Vaal). If missed initially, you can revisit Venom Crypts later—even post-campaign.
Upon entering Venom Crypts, thoroughly search until discovering a Corpse in the randomly placed Serpent Priestess Den—always distant from the entrance.
Interacting with the Corpse automatically grants Corpse-Snake Venom. Return to Ziggurat Encampment and deliver it to Servi to conclude The Slithering Dead.
Choosing Wisely: Best Venom Draught Rewards in Path of Exile 2
This quest appears twice—once in Act 3 and again in Act 3 Cruel—with differing rewards each time.
Act 3 Reward Selection
Servi offers three permanent choices:
Venom Draught of Stone
+25% Stun Threshold
Venom Draught of the Veil
+30% Elemental Ailment Threshold
Venom Draught of Clarity
+25% Mana Regeneration Rate
For most builds—especially melee Warriors and Monks—Venom Draught of Clarity shines brightest due to everlasting mana sustain value.
Magic-focused classes (Witches/Sorcerers) lacking mana issues may prefer Venom Draught of the Veil, reducing vulnerability to Bleed, Poison, Chill, and similar ailments.
While Venom Draught of Stone helps counter Stun effects, its niche usefulness makes it the weakest option.
Act 3 Cruel (Act 6) Reward Selection
Three new Venom Draughts appear:
Venom Draught of the Lost
+10% Chaos Resistance
Venom Draught of the Sky
+5 All Attributes
Venom Draught of the Marshes
15% Reduced Debuff Slow Potency
Venom Draught of the Lost dominates here—Chaos Resistance remains scarce on gear, making this universally valuable.
The sole exception? Chaos Inoculation builds pairing with Eternal Youth (converting Life Flasks to Energy Shield). These specialized setups should grab Venom Draught of the Sky instead.
