Omori Cancels Switch and PS4 Physical Release in Europe

Meridiem Games, Omori's European publisher, has announced the cancellation of the game's physical release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe. The publisher cited technical difficulties related to multilingual European localization as the reason for this decision.

Delays Leading to Cancellation

The physical release faced a series of setbacks. Initially slated for March 2023, the release was postponed to December 2023, then March 2024, and finally January 2025. These repeated delays ultimately resulted in the cancellation, leaving pre-order customers disappointed. While Meridiem Games stated technical difficulties with localization, further details remain undisclosed.

This news is particularly disheartening for European fans, as it prevents the official release of the game in Spanish and other European languages. While the digital versions remain accessible, European players seeking a physical copy will need to import from regions like the US.

Omori, an acclaimed RPG, follows Sunny, a young boy coping with trauma by isolating himself. The game seamlessly blends reality and Sunny's dream world, where he becomes Omori. Initially released on PC in December 2020, it expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022. However, the Xbox version was subsequently removed due to an unrelated issue involving an older T-shirt design sold by OMOCAT.
