NieR: Automata's opening throws you straight into 2B's mission. After landing and engaging in some initial melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a powerful two-handed sword – the Virtuous Treaty. Although you temporarily lose it after the prologue, reacquiring it is quick and easy once free-roaming is unlocked in the next chapter.
Where To Get The Virtuous Treaty In NieR: Automata
This early-game weapon is conveniently located near your starting point after leaving the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To your left, you'll spot a highway above the nearest access point. Head towards it, using the ruins to climb onto the highway. Following the road will lead you back towards the factory area.
Jump down to the factory and follow the grassy path towards the main structure. On your left, you'll find another access point with stairs leading upwards. From the upper area, look to the left towards the destroyed bridge where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the edge of this bridge, ready to be reclaimed.
Conveniently located just to the right of the sword is your old body, allowing you to recover any consumables left behind from the prologue.
Virtuous Treaty Base Stats In NieR: Automata

- Attack: 300-330
- Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2
Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-sweeping attacks, dealing substantial damage to multiple enemies. However, it's important to note its slower attack speed. Through upgrades, this weapon can boast some of the highest damage outputs in the game, provided you can adapt to its slower pace. You can also strategically incorporate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack, maximizing its damage potential while mitigating its speed limitations.
