While based on the video game, the manga takes creative liberties, altering the initial storyline. Key differences include the omission of a starting area, the introduction of new events, and a restructuring of existing ones, impacting how the protagonist, now canonically named Will (matching the game's default), meets his allies.

The next chapter is scheduled for release on February 19th, simultaneously with the Japanese version.

A Critical and Commercial Success

Developed by Studio Zero (led by Katsura Hashino, the director behind the Persona series), Metaphor: ReFantazio follows Will and his fairy companion, Gallica, as they strive to save the prince of Euchronia. The assassination of the king throws the kingdom into turmoil, leading to a people's choice for a new leader, thrusting Will into an unexpected adventure.

The game's phenomenal success is undeniable. It achieved over one million sales worldwide on its launch day, surpassing even Persona 3: Reload to become Atlus' fastest-selling title. Critical acclaim followed, earning numerous awards including Best RPG, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative at the 2024 Game Awards.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S.
